2013: Top Ten Funniest Moments in Epic Trailer Music

Discover the best moments of the year!

1. The future of trailer music might be something halfway between acapella music and human beatbox sounds, a genre called… epic acapella and invented by Tobuscus during an interview with the Sencit Music team. You can hear a sample from 3:37 to 4:50 in the video below:

2. The secret behind PostHaste Music’s success : dragons. After listening to “Surpass” (a track composed by Mark Petrie) on Youtube, a fan commented: “I now have a sudden urge to rip a dragon in half. Anyone know where I can find one?”. To which PostHaste Music replied: “We have a few in our offices. They serve as motivation for our composers!” (screen capture shared by PostHaste on Facebook)

3. VideoHelper’s secret: beer? Here’s a picture of customized beer bottles for the release of the album Colossical, shared by the company via Facebook: “Taste the classics”!

There might actually be another explanation to VideoHelper’s success. Through a detailed diagram, they explained the creative process behind another album, Welcome to the Dramadome. It resulted in 13 hours debating the best shape for a conference room table, 6 seminars on how to change the toilet paper, and 1 broken toilet, among other things.

4. Recording new albums can sometimes be tricky. Here’s a funny picture of a recording session, shared by Ninja Tracks with the following comment: “Ninja Tracks Tip o’ the Day:  proper communication between the composer and the conductor is vital for a successful session.” (source: Facebook)

(The actual explanation is that Merethe Soltvedt’s shoes – heels – were hurting.)

8. Reactions from fans were mixed when Two Steps From Hell decided to release goodies – including plastic dolls. “At least, they no are inflatable dolls”, a fan said on Facebook.

9. Are you tired of the Inception “bwaaa” sound or “Heart of Courage” from Two Steps From Hell? Don’t worry, “Shredder” from ReallySlowMotion is the new trend! This track, composed by Attila Ats, has already been featured in various trailers, teasers and TV spots. It is literally omnipresent. After releasing its first album, Cosmogeny, early in 2013, ReallySlowMotion quickly got many placements, particularly thanks to “Shredder”, which was part of the album. The company then posted “a graphic summary of these first 5 months of RSM [ReallySlowMotion] in the industry” on Facebook. Whether you like “Shredder” or not, you’ll have to get used to it.

10. One day, we decided to have a bit of fun at Trailer Music News, and we created a poster, saying: “Keep calm and listen to epic music”. But is this really possible? Apparently, not. Boromir won’t tell you the opposite. « One does not simply keep calm while listening to epic music.” Aye.
