Founded by the talented Nick Murray, “switch.” (don’t forget the period at the end of the name!), is a new L.A. based trailer music company, which specializes in music for high-end movie trailers only.

switch.’s particularity is to produce “artist-driven trailer music”, and “reinvent trailer music” (no less!)

The team includes executive producer and composer Nick Murray, writer, producer and vocalist Dominik Schwarzer, and composers Jasper Blunk and Danny Olson.

Among contributing artists, you will find Tyler Gurwicz (Writer, Vocalist), David Elijah (Writer, Vocalist), Jenny Bae (Solo Violin), the famous Tina Guo (Solo Cello), Michael Ripoll (Guitar, Bass), Joel Stevenett (Drums), Joel Pack (Vocalist), and Lola (Vocalist).

The catalog already features two albums: Vanguard, and Lift. Vanguard is an epic and dramatic hybrid album, composed by Nick Murray, Jasper Blunk, and Danny Olson.

“At switch. we are always looking to reinvent trailer music. Vanguard is no exception. Hybrid trailer music is traditionally upbeat. We decided to slow things down. The result is truly modern productions with massive orchestral epic themes. We wanted to develop a solid hook in each of the cues and milk it. We feel this provides a really strong opportunity not just for licensing, but for branding Hollywood films.

To achieve the best possible sound, we travelled to London to record world-class musicians from the English Session Orchestra & Britten Sinfonia Voices at AIR Studios.” Vanguard was indeed recorded and mixed at AIR Studios by Jake Jackson. “Vanguard is mixed and mastered in 5.1 surround sound. This creates a mind-blowing realism that puts you right in the middle of the orchestra. Epic music has never sounded this big.”

The other album of the catalog is Lift, featuring epic and uplifting pop/rock music, composed by Nick Murray and Dominik Schwarzer. It may not be traditional orchestral music, but it is still trailer music… as switch. explains: “What happens when you take the format of Trailer Music but you insert other genres into it? Lift is our first experiment with this. We applied the idea of trailer music (soft intro, building middle section, big ending) to uplifting pop rock. The result (we think) turned out like nothing we’ve ever heard in the trailer music world. These songs are perfect for any family drama, romantic comedy, nature movie or anything that needs feel-good music.

Each of the 12 songs is specifically written for trailers with stops, edit points, intros, builds, and big back ends. Lift features 5 vocalists, one of the top Violinists in the world (Jenny Bae), and one of the top Cellists in the world (Tina Guo). Lift also features a 31 piece live string orchestra for that real cinematic touch.” The orchestral parts were recorded live, with Capellen Orchestra; the album was mixed by Mark Needham and mastered by Erick Labson.
