Diego Stocco: Sounds are Everywhere!
Hoy, hoy! Diego Stocco is one of the most talented sound designer out there. I was stunned his innovative attitude of creating unique sounds. Just think of his famous video on YouTube when he uses a tree and even a bonsai to compose music. At last bonsais have a reason to exist!
Besides discovering sound in every day’s life he also developes his own instruments. His latest invention is flux capacitor Fence Bass. Diego describe its sound as “a rough and edgy [one] since it’s all made of metal, so [he] imagined a piece that could work in a modern Western film” and the instrument looks like a starship. Check out the video of creating the song “Dustland”!
If you think of how this sound would work with orchestra and choir, which was my first question when Diego draw our attention to this instrument, no one ever used it, sadly. However Diego’s other unique instrument Experibass featured on Hans Zimmer’s Sherlock Holmes and Jesper Kyd’s Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.
