Review: Epicon

Hoy, hoy! It only took 4 years to write our first review. (Applause) But if I don't want to be so strict with ourselves it only took 2. This was scheduled for a long time. So let me introduce our first review about the most anticipated release of trailer music world so far: Epicon. I must add if I would write this in 2006 I would have wrote some things otherwise. I decided to include into the article the effects of this release to the trailer music wolrd. It might seem that this revalues the album, but it is a great album anyway. (It might counted one star.) I also would like to thanks the contribution of greg and Mike who helped me out sometimes and checked my writing before the publishing.

"Globus. This word means a lot, but for those who have a clue what trailer music is, this word beats their heart. Globus was created by Yoav Goren in 2006 who is almost a semi-god in the trailer music business. Globus' live debut at Wembley's Grand Hall, in London, where they played songs from their first studio album Epicon, was an enormous success." Read more >>

I have to say when Globus first came to be, I was a little turned off by them incorporating lead vocals with the trailer music cues we all love. I wanted the release of part of IM's library without any change to the cues.

However, after a while the songs began to grow on me and I actually enjoyed the change. It became a great alternative way of listening to the trailer music I've grown to love. In addition, it allowed me to share the music I have a huge passion for. As this review mentioned, it's easier to say that "Globus is my favorite band" than say that "my favorite music is trailer music." Globus opened up a way of listening to trailer music to more people, and the more people that listen and appreciate trailer music (even in a different form) is awesome in my book.

I think that if trailer music becomes much more popular in the future (and it already looks like it's going in that direction) we can all look back and see that Globus' first album Epicon had a lot to do with it. I also think with TML that Globus and trailer music will really allow people to realize how amazing and incredible this music is. At the end of the concert in Santa Monica, I remember looking around during the long standing ovation at the end and I got the sense that the people there were in awe and pleasantly surprised at how wonderful this music really is.

I mean, look at how much of a following Trans-siberian Orchestra and especially Video Games Live have now after only a few years. Although I think they can put more money, resources and time into their respective projects more than TML can at this time, I think eventually people will start wanting to go to hear trailer music in concert as well.

I would not say that I loved Globus as much as other Immediate Music creations, but Preliator and Diem Ex Dei were really amazing.

Fantastic! I remeber the first time I heard Preliator, and I was totally in awe.

I would say, it's musical perfection! Epicon is an inspiration in many ways!
