Just as usual!

Hoy, hoy! I am not really a big fan of golf. Maybe when I am getting rich and old... Tho it's worth not swithing the TV right when you see golf broadcasting, because the main theme of PGA Championship was composed by E.S. Posthumus. The song called 'Burlingame' which is the official music of the championship available on Facebook.

Also E.S. Posthumus wrote the music for US Open for which you should turn on the TV, because matches of the championship just started and you probably catch E.S. Posthumus's tune. So E.S. Posthumus kept its good habbit to compose music for sport events. We are happy.

Tragedy strikes ES Posthumus

Franz Vonlichten of ES Posthumus passed away in May.

Franz's brother, Helmut Vonlichten, posted this tragic announcement on ES Posthumus's official Facebook page this past Thursday. It saddens me to write this article, as this news was a shock to everyone. Here is Helmut in his own words:

Dear Friends:

This has been an amazing year for ES Posthumus. Not only did we release our best selling album "Makara", but we opened the Super Bowl with Jay Z. However, with the sweetness of life often there follows the bitterness of mortality..... my brother, Franz, passed away in May. It was entirely unexpected.

The vast majority of music that we created as ESP is in your hands... there may be 1 or 2 additional songs that become available before the year end; unfortunately, I cannot promise anything.

As for me, I will begin to rebuild what was washed away, albeit in a form other than ES Posthumus. My brother and I created ESP together and we'll "exit stage left" together as well.

Franz was an extraordinary talent.... among other things, I will miss his creative ear and incomparable musical palette. Most of all, however, I will miss his wit and humor.... a consummate storyteller who found a punch line in even the most mundane scenarios.

Finally, thanks to every one of you... as you know, our success was truly "grassroots" ... it was driven by a sense of community and word of mouth.... you made it happen for us... we are eternally grateful..

Be well,

Helmut

Helmut lost a brother, and the music community loses a gifted artist. As we mourn the loss of Franz Vonlichten, it is impossible to ignore the achievements he and his brother shared in ES Posthumus.

The Vonlichten brother's first album, Unearthed, was released in 2001. It started as an experiment, but it was clear that the two artists had hit upon something powerful. The reach of ESP only grew, and 3 albums, and a variety of singles later, it is now more popular than ever.

The community that has come to love ES Posthumus's music is truly diverse. The style, which the brothers never defined, attracted a wide audience from all backgrounds musical and otherwise. That audience only grew as their sound evolved over the years, and as Helmut mentions, that awareness impressively rose mostly through word of mouth. The outpouring of support from ES Posthumus's many fans on their Facebook page is a testament to ESP's impact. The Vonlichten brothers were truly a team, and they dedicated themselves both to their music, and to their fans. It is certain that ESP's music will continue to inspire listeners.

Having personally enjoyed ESP's music over the years, I have great respect for the brothers and their music. Franz will be greatly missed, and our deepest sympathies go out to Helmut, and the Vonlichtens.

Messages from the Vonlichtens: E.S. Posthumus on Facebook/Twitter

As many of you may know if you've been watching our Twitter feed, we've been ReTweeting some tweets by E.S. Posthumus.  E.S. Posthumus recently reworked their website, and just last month have built quite a presence on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.  All these sites are dutifully updated by "The Guru" (aka their web designer), as she relays messages from the Vonlichten Brothers.

Tidbits like,

"ESP is back in the studio working on something very heavy duty. More details to come soon........"

Sounds intriguing!  There was also a hinting at a Vinyl release of Makara, if there's enough interest.

If you haven't started following E.S. Posthumus on Twitter and Facebook, and you're thinking, "Why should I bother?  They just write awesome music.  Do I really need to be reminded of that with random tweets and Facebook messages?", then, well, I'm not sure we can really convince you.  But, for everyone else, you might be surprised to hear that The Guru is holding occasional contests, for autographed CD's.  That's got to be pretty cool right? (It is.)

The question for the contest that's running now is "What is the title of the ESP song that is used in conjunction with Posthumus Zone during NFL games?".  My best guesses would either be 'Unstoppable' or 'Arise', but we'll find out today (March 4) at 5PM EST what the answer is.  I have no clue what the answer is, but perhaps we'll find out March 5 6 at 5PM EST.  You can head on over there to join the discussion, and post your answer.

UPDATE: The contest is still running; there's still time to enter!  Now into Day 3!

And come on.  Who doesn't want to know what Franz and Helmut are up to?

...because it does look like they're up to something..

E. S. Posthumus: We think it was worth the wait.

Hoy, hoy! It's better late than never, right? Back in december 2009 OSV interviewed E.S. Posthumus and we just missed it. Vonlichten brothers revealed some informations about their next album Deciphered. Altough its official name still not comfirmed yet, but the borthers talked about the creative process behind it. Read more here!

They've prefected this album since seven years now and traveled all around the world to find the best place for a recording. So they have a lots of work in this project. The brothers returns to their roots: the new album musical world will be much more similar to Unearthed. It's gonna be legend---

E.S. Posthumus' new album: It's high-octane, back-to-basics ESP!

Hoy, hoy! I've just received an e-mail from Tim, the admin of the unofficial home of E.S. Posthumus ExperimentalSounds.com. He wished good luck to the new site, but his mail reminded me to check his site..

I was surprised that he found a recent interview with the Vonlichten brothers published by the Paradigm Journal. The brothers talk about Cartographer, their way of creating songs and mention about their upcoming release. But let me quote them.

What's next for you?
(Franz) We're pretty deep in to production on our next record that we plan to release in November. It's high-octane, back-to-basics ESP. We are really excited about this one.

Remeber, remember the November... or whatever. Read the rest of the interview here.
