Ascension from Sound Adventures is Available for Public Purchase

Released to the industry in April 2015, Ascension is now available for public purchase as well. Featuring an “80-piece orchestra & choir, cutting-edge hybrid elements, massive percussion & sound design for trailers”, the album is dark, gritty and hard-hitting.

Ascension represents an “intense, shockingly emotional, multi-section hybrid trailer-focused release”, according to Megatrax, Sound Adventures’ distributor in the USA.

“We have tried to find a fine balance between the emotional depth that’s possible from real humans playing and in-your-face chest-thumping electronica, sound design, and heavy metal guitars”, notes Sound Adventures. “This calls to mind a memory from the recording session in Budapest, when the orchestra was playing along to a cue called Lamashtu, using really hard-rocking guitar, bass, and drums. The high strings play a syncopated melody over the top and the basses and celli double the electric rock bass. And I could see all the players so incredibly focused and “digging in.” It was like experiencing a 60-piece rock string section! When they stopped recording, the conductor tentatively came on the talkback to the control room and said, “We are a bit shy to admit that we LOVE playing this stuff!” This was a wonderful and funny admission from a roomful of essentially classical musicians. But that experience clearly underscored their complete dedication to the project.” You can read more about the album in the interview with Timo Spekkens on Megatrax’s blog.

The album is available for listening on Youtube.
