UPPM’s New Label, Chappell Noir

Chappell Noir is a brand new label from Universal Publishing Production Music (UPPM), focusing on dark and thrilling scores. This new label is part of a flagship production label, Chappell Recorded Music Library.

Chappell Noir comprises of music inspired by the latest crime fiction screen adaptations from around the world, and particularly Scandinavian crime fiction, a genre called Nordic Noir.

The label launched with five “beautiful, dark and thrilling scores for documentaries and dramas”, UPPM explains; Chappell Noir offers “beautifully orchestrated scores through to contemporary electronic sounds. Two out of the five releases explore the Nordic Noir genre, which is currently influencing screenwriters worldwide and taking an international hold of the drama scene, following the success of popular Scandinavian crime dramas such as The Killing, The Bridge and Wallander.”

Commenting on the new label launch,Clare Owens, Head of Production, UPPM said: “Being able to spot new and indeed niche themes within the film and television industry is something we really pride ourselves on, and in order to continue being at the forefront of composers’ minds it is critical that we continue to master this. With Chappell Noir we have created a label that will hopefully deliver beautiful and interesting musical scores to screenwriters everywhere”.

Nordic Noir 2, a collection of “beautifully performed documentary and drama tracks with a hint of Nordic melancholy”.

What Lies Withinwith “gripping and disturbing guitar scenes of violence and melancholia. Enter the dark side of human nature and its violent consequences”.

The Detectiveincluding “ramatic crime score, thematically linked cues. A dark, emotional journey through the eyes of the lead detective”.

Touched By The Dark, delivering “sinister mysteries and dark tensions. An intriguing orchestral score”.
