Jo Blankenburg’s Project ‘Syria 2013’

War rages on in Syria, and Jo Blankenburg has decided to raise money for humanitarian aid.

Conflicts torn Syria apart. The Middle-Eastern country became a playground for the geopolitical game between USA and Russia. The civil war is also a clash between the Shia and the Sunni ideologies; secularism vs religion; democracy vs totalitarianism. Moreover, it is  the Kurds’ struggle for their own state. And probably more, but I am not an expert.

When Bashar el-Assad seized power, no one expected him to follow in his father’s footsteps. His reaction to the Arab Spring caused a civil war with more than 110,000 dead including children, old people and women; a flood of refugees never seen before, and an unbelievable loss of cultural heritage.

Composer Jo Blankenburg decided to do something  against this bloody conflict, and raise money for humanitarian aid. He fights with a composer’s tools: pitches, tones, voices and melodies. Listen to it!

I am the founder of TMN. I am on a quest to explore the epic side of the world.
