VideoHelper: Colossical

Classics can be epic and modern – VideoHelper just released Colossical, a library that reinvent the classics. No less!

Colossical “is a collection of the most famous classical orchestral pieces ever written, intensified and reimagined into colossal, larger-than-life, cinematically up-to-scale production pieces”, VideoHelper explains.  Colossical “immediately highlights the iconic melodies and themes that make them instantly recognizable.”

Colossical is divided into two parts, Orchestral Intensifications and Hybridized Reimaginings. The first section offers epic and intensified versions of famous classics: “cinematic, over-the-top, larger-than-life, hyper-dynamic orchestral movie trailer [tracks], with performances from members of the Czech Republic’s Capellan Orchestra.” You may easily recognize pieces by Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Rossini, Mozart, Wagner and many others… And even the French Can Can –  which is actually originally based on a composition by Jacques Offenbach. Ever wanted to dance the French Can Can in an epic way? Here’s your chance!

You will also find a new mix of “Carol of the Bells” – after Position Music’s epic version of this track for their Christmas Coming album, here’s one from VideoHelper!

Hybridized Reimaginings, the second part of Colossical, includes completely new and different versions of the same pieces, in various styles – from horror to rock, including pop and dubstep, making them “recognizably unrecognizable”. Hybridized Reimaginings remixes the orchestral versions and reinterprets them”, VideoHelper says. “From a horror-movie version of “Dance of the Hours”, to a 70’s Blaxploitation themed Chopin’s “Funeral March”, every piece explores radically different genres and emotional directions that range from dark, to humorous, to bat-shit crazy.” You had probably never imagined such versions of these classics!

You may also notice that all the classical pieces were treated with a lot of humor – both the music and the titles of the tracks were reinvented. For example, “Barber of Seville” was turned into “Barbarian of Seville” and “Surfer of Seville”, “Eine kleine Nachtmusik” became “Eine kleine Epicmusik” and “Eine kleine Sportmusik”…

Editors will be happy to hear that orchestral and hybrid versions of these classics can be used and mixed together. “Both the Orchestral and Hybridized versions of each piece share the same key and tempo, allowing both to be used interchangeably”, says VideoHelper.

Colossical feature composers Aaron Sapp, Brian Randazzo, Oliver Codd, Joseph Saba, Stewart Winter, William Werwath, Matt Haick and Chris Child. More albums should be released in the future, in addition to the first four discs.

Colossical is currently not available to the public for purchase. For licensing information, contact VideoHelper.
