Nick Murray’s Single “From The New World”

Composer Nick Murray (who has made cues for audiomachine) just released his own epic take on Antonin Dvorak’s Symphony #9 (aka New World Symphony, aka From the New World). Specifically I believe the piece borrows mostly from Movement II.

Murray’s single, From the New World (Epic Cinematic Version), is now available for purchase on iTunes.

It’s only $0.99, and having just bought it, I can say it’s well worth it! At a nice length of 4.5 minutes, the piece begins softly, gradually rising to something grand and epic. You don’t have to be a fan of classical music, or the original symphony to enjoy it. The piece should appeal to film score and trailer music fans as it lends itself to working wonderfully to a picture. The melodies of Dvorak are there, but Nick Murray provides a great cinematic backdrop, and brings a ton of his own ideas and talent to this piece, especially for the climactic build in the middle.

If you do purchase this I also recommend checking out Dvorak’s original symphony. While in 117 years our musical tastes have changed somewhat, there’s a lot to like, and I can see why Nick was inspired by this piece.

What do you think of it? (We) and Nick would love to know!

From the New World (Epic Cinematic Version) is available to the public for purchase through iTunes and Amazon.
